John W. Chierichella

Chief Legal Officer

John Chierichella has more than 50 years’ experience in the Government Contracts field as a counselor, trial lawyer, appellate advocate, and expert witness. Over the course of his career, he has served as lead counsel for matters involving large and small Government Contractors, including Northrop Grumman, Ingalls Shipbuilding, Olin Winchester, and Sikorsky Aircraft. He is the Founder, Owner, and Manager of Chierichella Procurement Solutions LLC, www.chierichella.com, and was, before that, a senior partner in several international law firms.

He has been nationally recognized by Washingtonian Magazine’s Top Lawyers Hall of Fame, Best Lawyers in America, and the Legal 500. He has been ranked nationwide as a “Level 1” government contracts attorney by Chambers & Partners. Who’s Who Legal has described him as “one of the most instantly recognizable names in government contracts law.”

He has extensive experience in the Government Contracts-related aspects of mergers and acquisitions and co-authored a ten-part blog series on issues to be considered in buying and selling a Government Contracts business. Among his other areas of experience are contract and subcontract claims and appeals, teaming agreements, cost recovery and cost accounting issues, audit challenges, compliance reviews and internal investigations, and qui tam and other False Claims Act litigation. Under the aegis of Chierichella Procurement Solutions, he offers counseling relating to the structure of competitive bids, offers, or proposals; proposal evaluation; participation in “red” and “black” team reviews to appraise proposals and support competitive negotiations.

He obtained his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his law degree from Columbia Law School, where he served on the Law Review and was both a James Kent Scholar and a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He is an active member of the bar in Washington, D.C., and Virginia. Early in his career, he served as attorney/adviser to the Secretary of the Air Force in the Air Force Office of the General Counsel.
